It encourages the transformation of enterprises from using blast furnace or converter to adopting electric arc furnace. It sets a goal of transforming over 10% of those enterprises by 2025. In prestigious industrial companies there have been numerous brand-new electric arc furnaces erecting.

Under the circumstances of Carbon Neutral, the steel industry has been regarded as the first largest carbon emission source. Therefore, the task of cutting emission comes at the first. Short flow electric arc furnace steel-making technology is the most mature and economical emission reduction method. According to the calculation of dealers, in 2019, blast furnaces released 1680kg carbon dioxide, but electric arc furnace only released 390kg, which is approximately 23.2% of the blast furnace’ s emission. The outstanding performance of electric arc furnace makes it the only route of achieving carbon neutral.

So far, electric arc furnaces in China are responsible for around 10% of the global yield of electric arc furnace. However, Europe and America accounts for over 40% among it. It is forecast that China output will be about 40% in 2040. At that time, the carbon dioxide emission volume of China steel industry will drop to 6100kg, which is about 40% of the counterpart in 2019 of 15400kg. With the carbon neutral background, electric arc furnace will face an accelerated development, by which its matching consumable firms are expected to gain a long-term benefit.
