Production Rhythm and All Indexes of Transformed 1700mm Hot Rolling Mill Production Line Exceeded Expectations

Recently, the production rhythm and indexes of 1700mm hot rolling mill production line transformed and implemented by National Engineering Research Center for Advanced Rolling Technology exceeded expectations.

The transformation of the automation system of the 1700mm hot rolling mill production line began on March 6. After a week of intensive debugging and parameter optimization by engineers from National Engineering Research Center for Advanced Rolling Technology, the production line was restored on March 13 and exceeded the rhythm it had before the transformation. All the dimensions and temperature indicators of the product have been significantly improved, marking the complete success of the transformation!

The capacity bottleneck of the conventional 1+7 hot rolling mill production line lies in the roughing mill. After the transformation, the rough rolling time of the 12-meter slab is shortened to 90 seconds, and that of the 10.5-meter slab is shortened to 82 seconds. The slab rolling interval is shortened to 11 seconds, and the hourly output reaches 36 rolls, with an average of 100 seconds per roll. On March 13, each team rolled more than 210 rolls on average, with a maximum of 253 rolls in a single shift, and the daily output reached 13,920 tons.

To address the problem of breaking waves at the edge of the strip, which was a particular headache in the factory before the renovation, National Engineering Research Center for Advanced Rolling Technology has specially designed a set of high-power work roll wear compensation roll model, which can effectively compensate for the reduction of the edge of the roll after wear, thereby delaying the time when side breaker waves appear and decreasing wave size. After the new model was put into use, after two days of testing and adjustment, compared with the previous one, the side breaker waves of the strip in the later stage of rolling (after 130 consecutive blocks) were significantly reduced, laying a solid foundation for the stable rolling of extremely thin gauges.

The plan for a year lies in the spring. This transformation is the first hot rolling project completed by National Engineering Research Center for Advanced Rolling Technology after the beginning of the spring, setting a new record in the field of hot rolling.

National Engineering Research Center for Advanced Rolling Technology, as a joint partner of TYME, has formed mutual cooperation in the field of hot rolling, and successfully coordinated to build 2 hot rolling production lines in the Middle East. The equipment provided by both parties presented great performance. By complementing each other’s advantages, achieving mutual benefit, both parties create a new situation of cooperation.
