Vietnam will reduce electricity bills for steel mills affected by the epidemic

The Vietnamese government has agreed to a plan to support electricity consumers affected by the COVID--19 epidemic and will reduce electricity bills for three months. The steel industry has been included in the "List of affected industries and will receive support."

As the COVID-19 epidemic continues to spread in cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, and many southern provinces and cities, the economic development is greatly influenced. The Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have proposed a plan to reduce the electricity bills of the three types of enterprises: seafood and aquatic products processing and storage companies, vegetable processing and storage companies, and export manufacturing companies with exports exceeding 1 billion U.S. dollars in 2020. Therefore, the steel industry will be included in this list because Vietnam exported more than 5 billion U.S. dollars worth of steel last year.

According to the Vietnam Iron and Steel Association, a 10% discount (before VAT) will be given to electricity consumers within three months from the beginning of the electricity bill payment period in September to the end of the November electricity bill payment period.
