Japanese buyers have strong demand for low carbon ferrochrome in China

High carbon ferrochromium (60%Cr; 6-8%C; 3.5%Si) offers in Indian market were up by 0.05 dollar/pound Cr week-on-week to 1.3-1.4 dollar/pound Cr CIF. The main reason for the increase in quotations is the continued increase in the prices of raw materials, especially chrome ore and coke. However, consumers refused to accept the new price due to sufficient inventory.

Chinese low carbon ferrochromium (60%Cr; 0.1%C) offers were steady at 3.2-3.5 dollar/pound Cr CIF. With the most competitive prices, Japanese consumers' demand for Chinese alloys in the spot market remains strong. It is understood that Japanese buyers have reached several deals for low carbon ferrochromium in China, with a total volume of 300 tons.
